Epstein-affiliated cover-ups at the highest level of power are playing a major role as US midterm election day draws near. And this week, a 50-page report from House Judiciary Committee Democrats details Trump and Epstein’s friendship in the 1990s and the president’s serial sexual abuse — “the bad things and the cover up of the bad things.” Dr. Katie Chenoweth, a longtime investigative researcher on the Epstein scandal, joins Elise and Jena to break down what’s in the report, the damning allegations against Trump, and a hidden bombshell in the report’s footnote that she believes deserves more attention.

Professor, Investigative Researcher, Single Mom

I teach 16th-century French literature at Princeton, which seems pretty far removed from the Epstein files. Here’s how I got here: when Roe v. Wade was overturned, I was furious and started looking into the right-wing takeover of the Supreme Court. At some point I realized that the same skills I used to do academic research translated into investigative research, and I began partnering with journalists at outlets like the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Intercept, and New York Magazine to develop stories and provide research on background. More recently, I’ve teamed up with veteran journalist Nina Burleigh on the weekly newsletter American Freakshow, where we’re relentlessly covering the Epstein files as part of Courier Newsroom’s investigative project “The Cover-Up.”
